The National Student Financial Aid Scheme says it received nearly 900 000 applications for 2026 funding. NSFAS says almost 50 000 applications were rejected, while more than 200 000 remain in progress, largely due to outstanding documents.

NSFAS urged applicants to check their portal status and submit any missing information promptly, warning that incomplete submissions can still lead to unsuccessful outcomes if required documentation is not provided.
