A group of roughly 150 Palestinian refugees arriving at OR Tambo International Airport were kept on board their aircraft for several hours after allegedly officials flagged missing documentation, including absent exit stamps and incomplete travel papers. Authorities conducted checks while aid groups waited on the ground to assist.
After the review the travellers were permitted to enter South Africa. Humanitarian organisations are now accommodating the group in Johannesburg and providing medical and logistical support.
