Human remains believed to be those of a missing SANDF soldier were recovered on Monday 29 December near the South Africa Mozambique border after a local fisherman alerted search teams near Komatipoort. An inquest has been opened.

The soldier went missing on Christmas Day during Operation Corona when a military vehicle tried to cross a flooded river in Mpumalanga and two members were swept away. DNA testing will confirm identity.
