The Supreme Court of Appeal has ordered a fresh inquest into the 2016 death of cyclist Theresa Wampach Todd, who fell from a cliff near Sanddrif in the Cederberg. The court ruled that earlier proceedings were flawed because no oral evidence was heard and key witnesses were never called.

A new magistrate will now oversee the inquiry. Wampach Todd’s daughter has campaigned for years for clarity around the incident and previously sought assistance from AfriForum to push for possible prosecution.
