The Special Investigating Unit has confirmed that a Tembisa Hospital official accused of benefiting from irregular payments has repaid R13.5 million. The funds were allegedly received through unlawful transactions with service providers over several years.

Investigators say this repayment forms only part of a wider corruption probe at the hospital, where officials are suspected of involvement in large scale tender fraud. Further civil and criminal action is expected.
