Six people were wounded during an attempted cash-in-transit robbery in New Germany, Pinetown, after gunfire erupted near Shepstone Road on Thursday.

Reports from the scene indicate that passing motorists were also caught in the shooting. Among the injured were security personnel and a police officer, with at least one person said to be in a critical condition. Police have launched a manhunt and the road was closed while the scene was processed.
