South African wingsuit and paragliding champion Jean Jacques Wallis died after a high-performance paragliding wing he was test flying crashed into Lion’s Head in Cape Town. Rescue teams responded immediately, but he was declared dead at the scene.

Officials say Wallis was an experienced, licensed pilot, and an investigation is underway into what caused the advanced hybrid wing to fail during the flight.
