Yemen’s Presidential Leadership Council declared a 90-day state of emergency on Tuesday, 30 December 2025, after Southern Transitional Council forces reportedly seized new territory in parts of the south and east.

Reports say the decree included a 72-hour air, land, and sea blockade, and that authorities moved to cancel a joint defence agreement with the UAE while ordering Emirati forces to leave. The UAE has denied backing the separatists.
