Almost 80% of registered voters in KwaZulu-Natal hold a favourable view of the Zulu Royal Family.
This data comes from a survey of 2 434 registered voters in the province conducted by the Social Research Foundation in September 2023.
In that survey a question was put to participants: “Do you feel favourable or unfavourable towards the Zulu Royal Household in KwaZulu-Natal?”
Participants could then choose if they felt somewhat or very favourable or unfavourable towards the Royal Household.
Amongst all registered KwaZulu-Natal voters 79% said that they felt somewhat or very favourable towards the Royal Household and 13% said that they felt somewhat or very unfavourable towards the Royal Household.
When broken down by race 88% of black voters in KwaZulu-Natal said that they felt somewhat or very favourable towards the Royal Household and 5% said that they felt somewhat or very unfavourable towards the Royal Household.
Amongst Indian registered voters in the province 33% said that they felt somewhat or very favourable towards the Royal Household and 50% said that they felt somewhat or very unfavourable towards the Royal Household.
Meanwhile, amongst white registered KwaZulu-Natal voters 36% said that they felt somewhat or very favourable towards the Royal Household and 57% said that they felt somewhat or very unfavourable towards the Royal Household.
