Pew Research Center surveyed 1 020 adults in Canada and 1 017 in Mexico between 12 February and 14 April 2026, as part of its Spring 2026 Global Attitudes Survey. Respondents were asked whether they hold a favourable or unfavourable view of each country. Canada's crossover is new: favourable views of the United States fell from 71% in 2002 to 33% today, while views of China climbed from a 2023 low of 14% to 44%. Mexico crossed over earlier, in 2017, and the gap has since widened to 59% for China against 40% for the United States. Pew did not field the question every year in either country, so the series is intermittent rather than annual.
