A cash in transit vehicle was blown up during a robbery on the N2 near Chesterville in KwaZulu Natal on Monday evening, prompting the temporary closure of the highway as emergency services responded.

Hundreds of residents were seen looting money scattered across the roadway before police intervened. South African Police Service confirmed one security guard was injured and an investigation is under way.
