Direct Imprisonment: Police Sergeant Sentenced for Stealing and Selling Chainsaws Booked as Evidence

Former Limpopo police sergeant Leonard Maraka has been sentenced to 12 months’ direct imprisonment for stealing chainsaws booked as evidence. Maraka sold the stolen items and was convicted of theft and defeating the ends of justice.

The court also declared Maraka unfit to possess a firearm, condemning his actions as a breach of police integrity.
