Former Pretoria midwife Yolande Maritz Fouchee has pleaded not guilty in the Gauteng High Court to charges linked to babies born with disabilities and one infant death.

Prosecutors allege negligence at her private birth clinic and that unqualified assistance was used during deliveries. Fouchee denies wrongdoing and rejects claims that unsafe methods were employed to induce labour.
