Cyril Ramaphosa has called for urgent action to strengthen whistleblower and witness protection after an assassination attempt on a key witness linked to a commission of inquiry into police corruption.

Ramaphosa warned that those who expose wrongdoing must not be left vulnerable, saying gaps in current protection measures risk silencing critical testimony and undermining efforts to combat organised crime and corruption.
