A High Court battle has halted construction of Gauteng’s proposed K148 road near the Suikerbosrand Nature Reserve after an interdict stopped the project while the province appeals.

The challenge is linked to the planned Port of Gauteng inland logistics hub, promoted as a major investment and jobs project. The Gauteng Department of Roads and Transport is appealing the ruling, with a hearing set for 17 February 2026.
