Three suspected robbers were shot dead during a high-speed chase and shootout with Gauteng police on the N12 near Nasrec, after officers acted on intelligence linked to a courier vehicle robbery in Tokoza.

Police said the suspects, travelling in a silver Corolla, fled when officers tried to stop them on Kliprivier Road, before the vehicle came to a standstill between Xavier and the Soweto off ramp. One suspect was injured, and two firearms and suspected stolen goods were recovered.
