South Africa sealed a remarkable 2-0 Test series victory over India with a dominant 408-run win in Guwahati, securing their first series win in India in 25 years.

Simon Harmer's sensational six-wicket haul in the second innings (taking 6/37, his best Test figures) helped hand India their biggest Test defeat in terms of runs.

Harmer tore through the Indian batting line-up on the last morning, taking the wickets of nightwatchman, Kuldeep Yadav, Dhruv Jurel, and stand-in captain, Rishabh Pant before lunch on the final day.

He was ably supported by Keshav Maharaj, Senuran Muthusamy, and Marco Jansen, whose six-wicket haul in the first innings helped bowl India out for 201. Jansen also took a stunning one-handed catch in the deep to dismiss last man, Mohammad Siraj, and seal the series.

The only Indian batter to show any resistance was Ravi Jadeja, who scored 54, only India’s second half-century of the series.

Aiden Markram also took nine catches in the match, the most ever by an outfielder in a Test match.

Harmer was named man-of-the-series for his 17 wickets at 8.9, while Jansen was man-of-the-match, for his six-wicket haul in the first innings, to go along with the 93 he scored in South Africa’s first innings.
