The ANC’s support in Tshwane has collapsed over the past decade. In 2014, the party won 51.0% in the metro, before slipping to 49.6% in 2019 and falling to 37.8% in 2024. The DA moved from 31.3% in 2014 to 25.9% in 2019 and 30.1% in 2024, while the EFF remained broadly flat in the low teens. The chart captures the scale of the ANC’s decline. Tshwane was once competitive but still ANC-led territory. It is now a metro where the ANC could fall another ten points by the 2026 local government election.
