Body Found as Floods Hit New Hanover

Heavy storms in KwaZulu-Natal have left one person dead and two missing after flash floods swept through New Hanover in the uMshwathi Local Municipality. Search and rescue teams recovered the first body on Monday morning and are continuing efforts to find the remaining victims as rain warnings remain in place.

Disaster officials report flooded homes, damaged bridges, and cut-off communities across the area, with assessments of the full extent of the damage still under way. Authorities have urged residents to avoid swollen rivers and low-lying crossings as further storms are expected.
