Duduzile Zuma-Sambudla’s July unrest trial continued in the Durban High Court today, where she faces charges of incitement to commit terrorism and public violence linked to her social media activity during widespread riots in 2021. Digital law expert Emma Sadleir told the court her posts showed clear appreciation of the chaos, including a deleted video now provisionally admitted as evidence.

Prosecutors argue her online messages helped fuel the riots that left more than 300 people dead and caused an estimated R50 billion in damage across KwaZulu-Natal and Gauteng. Her defence, led by advocate Dali Mpofu, maintains that the case is politically motivated and that she was merely expressing support for her father following his imprisonment.
