Farmers Warned Over Illegal Kenyan FMD Vaccine

The Department of Agriculture has warned South African farmers against buying or using an illegally imported foot and mouth disease (FMD) vaccine from Kenya after authorities uncovered an unregistered Kenyan livestock vaccine doses circulating in local cattle herds.

Officials say the Kenyan vaccine, which is not licensed in South Africa, may not match local FMD strains, and could worsen outbreaks.
