The Western Cape High Court has sentenced Sinethemba Makeleni and Lonwabo Cosa to life imprisonment for the murder of Cape Town lawyer David Mbazwana. A third accused, Siyanda Ndzendze, received an effective 15 years, with sentences running concurrently.

Mbazwana was shot dead at his Whitehouse Tavern in Makhaza, Khayelitsha, on 19 May 2019. The surviving victim, bouncer Yandisa Sitishi, reportedly faces lasting physical injury and psychological trauma, while the family says the loss still cuts deep.
