The Louvre Museum in Paris has temporarily closed its Campana Gallery which houses nine rooms dedicated to ancient Greek ceramics, after engineers identified structural weaknesses in beams supporting parts of the Sully wing. The museum evacuated around 65 staff from nearby offices and said the gallery will remain shut until further notice while specialists conduct further assessments.

Officials stressed that the closure is precautionary and unrelated to recent security incidents at the museum regarding the daytime robbery of priceless pieces of the French crown jewels. The decision forms part of a broader review of ageing infrastructure at the world-famous institution, which has faced growing maintenance pressures.
