Madlanga Commission Probes Criminal Capture Of Justice System

The Madlanga Commission of Inquiry into criminality and political interference in South Africa’s criminal justice system resumed public hearings in Pretoria today. Chaired by retired Constitutional Court justice Mbuyiseli Madlanga, the commission is probing claims that senior politicians, police and intelligence figures have been captured by criminal syndicates that manipulate investigations and appointments.

Recent witnesses have included KwaZulu-Natal police commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi and national commissioner Fannie Masemola.
