Police officers in Mitchells Plain have gone viral after being filmed handing out ice lollies to children during a patrol in the gang affected Tafelsig area. The officers stopped at a local shop and bought the treats with their own money.

Police said the moment happened during a crime prevention operation that also led to several arrests. The officers described the gesture as an effort to build trust in a community heavily affected by violence.
