Najwa Petersen will remain behind bars after authorities rejected her latest parole application. She is serving a 28-year sentence for orchestrating the 2006 murder of her husband, musician Taliep Petersen, and has now been refused release for a second time.

Officials say she must complete further rehabilitation programmes before being reconsidered. Taliep Petersen’s family have welcomed the decision to keep her in prison.
