South Australia Police will restart an intensive search for four-year-old Augustus “Gus” Lamont, who vanished from his family’s remote Oak Park sheep station near Yunta on 27 September. After weeks without answers, officers will now focus on six previously unidentified mine shafts located between 5.5 km and 12 km from the homestead.
Specialist Special Task And Rescue Group teams and Task Force Horizon will deploy equipment to probe the shafts, with police emphasising there is still no evidence of foul play. Deputy Commissioner Linda Williams said authorities remain determined to find the missing child and provide closure for the family as the investigation enters a renewed phase.
