South African consumer watchdogs have ruled that Root X Africa Auctioneers misled buyers by marketing a game farm with images suggesting it included a dam and a crocodile, when both were on a neighbouring property.

The National Consumer Tribunal ordered a refund of about R1.207 million plus interest, and imposed an administrative fine of R250 000, finding the misrepresentation materially influenced the purchase decision.
