SAPS National Commissioner Fannie Masemola is visiting Saulsville and Brakpan today following a violent weekend that left 12 people dead in a mass shooting at Saulsville Hostel and saw whistleblower Marius “Vlam” van der Merwe killed in Brakpan. Police say new developments have emerged in both cases.

Gunmen opened fire at an illegal shebeen inside the hostel, killing adults and children and injuring several others. Van der Merwe, a key witness before the Madlanga Commission, was shot outside his home in what is believed to be a targeted hit. Police are intensifying investigations.
