Sarkozy Freed Under Judicial Supervision After Jail Stint

Former French president Nicolas Sarkozy has been released from prison after 20 days, but remains under judicial supervision and barred from leaving France as he appeals his conviction in a campaign-financing case.

He was sentenced on 25 September 2025 to five years in prison for criminal conspiracy, a verdict he is appealing. His defence says the case is politically motivated as other legal proceedings also loom.
