UK Unveils New Naval Tech to Counter Russian Submarine Threat

The British Royal Navy has revealed a major undersea warfare upgrade called Atlantic Bastion, an AI-enabled surveillance network linking ships, submarines, aircraft and unmanned drones to track Russian submarine activity in the North Atlantic. Trials include silent underwater gliders and autonomous torpedo shaped sensors.

Defence officials say the system will help protect vital sea lanes and undersea cables as tensions with Moscow rise. It forms part of a wider push that includes new laser weapons and expanded drone fleets.
