Russian President Vladimir Putin has accused Western governments of lying and stirring war hysteria, dismissing warnings about Russian aggression as false. He said Moscow is not seeking a wider conflict with Europe.

Putin added Russia would pursue its objectives in Ukraine through diplomacy or force if necessary, as fighting continues and international efforts to push peace talks intensify.
