Vodacom Increases Stake in Safaricom to 55%

Vodacom has raised its stake in Safaricom to 55%, acquiring a 15% share from the Kenyan government and 5% from Vodafone. The R36 billion deal, awaiting regulatory approval, strengthens Vodacom’s presence in East Africa. Safaricom will remain listed on the Nairobi Securities Exchange but will be effectively controlled by Vodacom, boosting its pan-African operations.
