A new Cape Leopard Trust camera trap survey reports that leopards are flourishing in the Boland mountains, with healthy activity recorded from Bainskloof through the Hottentots Holland range to the Kogelberg coast. The study covered both public and private land.

Over five months, researchers used dozens of paired camera stations and identified multiple individual leopards, including females with cubs. Conservationists say the results point to a stable core population but warn that snares and habitat pressure remain serious threats.
