Du Noon Fire Leaves Thousands Homeless After Informal Settlement Blaze

A fire swept through Du Noon near Milnerton, destroying more than 1 000 informal structures and leaving about 5 500 people homeless, according to updated assessments.

The City of Cape Town says strong winds fuelled the blaze and teams have been registering affected households to coordinate emergency help. Relief groups, including Gift of the Givers, have been distributing supplies as residents begin rebuilding.
