A 52-year-old man was arrested in Bloemhof, North-West after walking into the local police station claiming to be a SAPS colonel and asking officers for a lift. He allegedly told staff his vehicle had broken down in Warrenton and that he needed transport to Bultfontein.

Police checked his details, discovered he was not a serving officer, and detained him immediately. He has already appeared in the Bloemhof Magistrate’s Court and has been remanded in custody while further investigations continue.
