Mpumalanga police arrested a 62-year-old man after an operation near Carolina uncovered 13 unlicensed firearms, including rifles, handguns and self-manufactured guns, along with more than 1 000 rounds of ammunition.

The suspect appeared in the Chief Albert Luthuli Magistrate’s Court on 14 January 2026 and remains in custody, with the case postponed to 19 January 2026 for a formal bail application.
