Three people died after a bus overturned on the N1 south between Edenburg and Bloemfontein in the early hours of Monday morning. Emergency services said 71 passengers were injured and taken to nearby hospitals.

Sipho Towa, chairperson of the Road Accident Management Systems, confirmed the fatalities as crews assisted passengers at the scene. The cause of the crash has not yet been confirmed and investigations are continuing.
