Rand Water maintenance is disrupting supply, with shutdowns on 13 to 15 and 19 to 21 December, and 6 to 8 January. Johannesburg Water has warned of intermittent outages.

The first shutdown has overrun, leaving some suburbs dry almost three days after the window. Recovery has stalled in Midrand, and taps remain dry in parts of Sandton and Linksfield as reservoirs recharge.
