Steers has faced backlash after a video showed staff in uniform doing gardening work outside its Menlo Park, Pretoria outlet. The company said the incident was unacceptable and not standard practice.

Steers said an internal investigation found the instruction came from the restaurant manager, linked to delayed landlord maintenance after the December festive period. The franchisee has been issued a formal notice, and managers at the outlet are being retrained on labour practices.
